Color matching was great, detail was great. I haven't read the product description on this, but I wanted to call it to everyone's attention, just in case, that this paper is not considered double sided. One side is whiter and slicker than the other. The printing on the "back" is not as saturated and sharp, so be warned. Thie paper is awesome. Photographs printed beautiful. I will buy this paper again. The colors are vivid. Very nice paper. The Epson papers are always the safest bet for use with Epson color printers because of the built-in color/calibration support for all of their papers, and the Epson Ultra Premium papers never fail to disappoint me. Until recently the only matte paper I had used (on a 3880 at school) was some Premium Matte (the "non Ultra" version) that my teacher was handing out for free, and I was a bit disappointed with the density of both the black and colored print. I was much happier with the Ultra Premium Matte.

At home I'm using an Epson R3000 (which uses the same UltraChrome K3 inks as the 3880s at school) with the Ultra Premium Gloss, Luster, and recently the Matte, and when I compare the same photo printed on both Ultra Premium Gloss and Ultra Premium Matte it's very difficult to tell the difference in color saturation and black density. Really I see no difference in very saturated colors, and the darkest black parts of the image are only very slightly lighter on the matte paper. (My guess is that most people wouldn't notice, but I'm a photography student and so I'm used to looking at minor details.) The only color difference I really notice, at least with this photograph, is that in the dark areas (shade) under some trees where there are some very very dark green colors the gloss shows more color differentiation (and thus more detail) than the matte. This would appear to be an example of the expected difference in color gamut between glossy and matte paper in general, and again you'd probably have to be a color zealot like me to really notice in this photo.

Also, not everyone realizes this so I figure I'll mention it: When printing photos on ink jet printers, papers are not just completely interchangeable the way most laser printer papers or papers for B&W ink jet printing are. "Office" papers may be mostly the same, but with photo papers your printer/driver/software need to "know" how to print on them properly. Otherwise you may end up with a mess, figuratively or even literally. At best the colors will look wrong, and at worst the printer will lay down so much ink that it'll smear all over and never dry properly. So unless you're somewhat of an expert with ink jet printing, you should use the paper supplied by your printer's manufacturer. Some papers will never work on some printers, regardless of configuration expertise, simply due to ink type.

So, in short, this paper is good stuff. While it is possible to get third-party papers that are better than this, or as good but less expensive, the Epson Ultra Premium papers are very good quality and guaranteed to work properly on compatible Epson printers with no hassle. (If you buy 3rd party papers then you're going to need to mess with ICC profiles and possibly paper thickness or ink density adjustments.)

So when you want very high quality paper that works properly on Epson printers with no tinkering around or color profiling needed, the Epson Ultra Premium papers are the ones to use. The Ultra Premium Matte is just as high quality the Ultra Premium glossy and luster. I build custom arcade stick enclosures and provide artwork printing to my customers, and was looking for a high quality paper for the prints that wasn't glossy. Since the prints go under plexiglass, a glossy finish would show the artwork sticking to the plexiglass in some spots (looking sort of like wet spots). After a bit of research I ordered a pack of the Epson Ultra Premium Matte Presentation Paper to test.

When it arrived, I did some test prints right away. As soon as I opened the package I knew I was dealing with high quality paper. Inside the outer cardboard packaging, the paper was in a plastic pouch with several instruction sheets. One thing to not is that the paper has two sides; a bright white side that you print on, and an off white, duller side that is the back and the side you obviously don't want to print on. Based on some of the negative reviews here it seems some buyers fail to notice this, and print on the wrong side thus resulting in less than desirable prints. It's the first thing mentioned on the instruction sheet too...

All of my print tests confirmed what I already suspected: this Epson paper is very high quality and prints beautifully. Colors were very vibrant and saturated with no smearing, the paper is a very bright white and it's a heavyweight paper so you don't get the ripples that you do when printing images on plain paper. All of my prints are printed with myprinter with a Cobra Ink Systems continuous ink supply system with pigment inks installed.

I couldn't be happier. It's an excellent, high quality heavy weight paper to print on and the images print beautifully. A mixed-media artist recommended Epson Ultra Premium Matte paper as a good one for printing images to be incorporated in mixed-media artistic projects, and I am very pleased with it. It holds colors nicely and is substantial enough to stand up to paint, gel medium etc without being so heavy that it is difficult to adhere. Price is reasonable. If your project is going to be inside a plastic sleeve don' bother with Luster or Gloss. Under plastic this had the same sheen. It also feeds better than the gloss does on both my Epson 1400 and Epson WF 1100. On top of that you can print on both sides.

I am using this sheet exclusively now for menus (inside cafe covers). It is even inexpensive enough to use for final proofs. This is the first ever premium paper like this that I have purchased. So naturally I don't really have anything else from experience to compare it to. What I can say though is that I loved the results I got from it. Printing in black and white, it retained all of the gray mid-tones wonderfully and the end result looked amazing. Of course I also used a $2000 printer to print with so I guess that could have had an effect. Gorgeous color with this paper! I'm printing digital paintings and I have one piece that is difficult to print well due to a deep, dark red color in it that comes out a hideous brown on some papers. On this paper it's perfect. I highly recommend it.I've realized I don't like Matte paper. When you go to the store they ask you glossy or Matte and I feel like Matte is the wrong term they are using. Its really Lustre, You get the best of both worlds with Lustre. You get the color saturation of glossy, the fingerprint resistance of matte, and you don't get the glare like you do with glossy. But this is just plain ol matte, and I hate it. I'ts plain and just not appealing to me. I compared it to the Canon Matte and the canon is obviously better. With this paper you get this yellowish tarnish white, but with the canon the paper is actually white.WOW!!! This photo paper is absolutely amazing in quality!!! I have always used the cheapest store brand or Kodak photo paper but had a special project that I wanted to use better quality paper for and I am blown away at how much more vibrant and colorful my prints are using this Epson photo paper! I am just truly amazed. I just wish it came a tad heavier so I could use it for printing invitations and cards...

San Diego California I have used this for both photos and, more recently, to print jewel-case inserts (album covers) for CDs. The CD covers are a combination of photo, color background, and text. The quality is excellent and matte is a good choice for this application. I am using an off-the-shelf Brother MFC-440n, which is a little painful speed-wise, but it likes this paper and so long as you properly set your print parameters in the pop-up panel, you don't experience the darkening that another reviewer complained about.

I have also used the 2-sided capability in general photo printing. There are absolutely no bleed-through issues and since ink dries very fast on this paper, it is really convenient for this use.As a photo paper, I'd give this 3 stars. When I think of Matte photos, I still think of something with just a touch of texture and gloss as you would get with professionally-printed matte photographs. This paper is not like that at all. While pictures print just fine on it, do not expect anything close to professional results. You'd probably get the same result with card-stock, nothing frame-worthy.

That being said, I still LOVE this paper for other printing purposes because it is nice and thick, but not too thick to seem too stiff as you would with card-stock. I use this all of the time for resumes and other business-documents that I want to look polished. This paper would work well for brochures, invitations, flyers, certificates, report-covers, and such. I especially love using it for printing sheet music. first off this is advertised as photo paper when its just regular computer paper but thicker. there is no gloss or finish whatsoever on this paper. then depending on what you are printing you may be able to see through the paper to the image on the other side and the paper may wrinkle if the image needs alot of ink. so its thicker than regular paper but still not thick enough. it has little value for me especially at the price it costs for advertising two sided photo paper. i intended on using this paper as the cover for pamplets im making but now im gonna have to buy a better quality paper and try and find another use for this paper. Printworks Mattee photo paper is so great for bulletin boards or children's projects. There is no glare that is noticed with the glossy paper. This paper was recommended by Joel Henriques on his website and book Made to Play!: Handmade Toys and Crafts for Growing Imaginations. It is really wonderful for art projects. Crafters, parents, teachers will not be disappointedThis is the best product I have found for making the annual calendar gifts. The Paper is heavy enough that it holds up but not heavy enough to jam in a C7280 HP printer. The paper does not bleed through on even the heaviest of saturated colors. The price cannot be beat! I was very pleased at how happy I received my order. Most important to me is I was able to order this from home as I couldn't find it in a local store. Order is just what I wanted and arrived in great shape. I returned this product because it was fraudulently, incorrectly and, I feel, purpousely misrepresented as it was described totally wrong. It was not "Premium" paper. I am an ameteur photographer and digital imager and know print paper and PrintWorks makes some excellent paper and I feel they would be disgusted with the fact that their product was mis-listed. In reporting my disappointment to Amazon I was treated like an idiot when I opposed their part in such a transaction. I did have some unkind words while communicating with the Amazon representative because she acted like "Ha,Ha' I've got your information and there's nothing you can do about it. I've been delighted with many HP products over the last 30 years (I still have my first HP calculator), but this photo paper is just hideous. I bought a 100-sheet pack for use with my Canon Pixma printer, which produces lovely photos on a variety of vendors' papers.

But when it comes to HP "Everyday" Photo Paper, I've experimented with a variety of printer settings to see if I can come up with an acceptable combination, but to no avail.

In a nutshell, the paper's surface seems to resist, rather than attract, ink. A photo printed on this paper takes forever to dry, and when it does, it has a grainy, blotchy appearance, worse than any other photo paper I've ever used.

I'm a frugal person, so the step I took just before writing this review -- tossing more than half this package into recycling -- was not taken lightly. I suggest you avoid purchasing this paper.

I was so excited in waiting for this photo paper: The HP Everyday Photo Paper and being semi-gross of 8x10. BUT was a total disappointed, annoyance & out-rage because my New HP printer which had NO previous problems as it accepted & had not jammed up with using any other kind of photo paper. However I must have made over a dozen times in trying to use this HP Everyday Photo Paper but for each time I attempted. The Photo paper would clearly get jammed up inside the rollers OR when I got lucky and the photo paper did not get all jammed up, BUT instead this photo paper would not even be accepted into my printer.
I think for starters one of the biggest problems is that perhaps this photo paper is even much lighter in wt. then even a regular piece of white water just for documents. And secondly, I would not even consider this paper to be semi-gross. It has NO gross to it at all. This is the ONLY Photo paper that I ever had any problems with. I will also add that at first I thought the problem was with my
new HP printer, so after hours of trying to get the jammed up torn paper out.
Then I tried this same paper with my much older printer which is the HP PhotoSmart 4400., BUT again this photo paper jammed up even my older printer. BUT I gave it my best attempt.
MY advice would be unless your one whom likes to take on a challenge you are not going to win as well as you don't mind jamming up your printer rather older or new. Take my word: DON'T waste your money just to save on the sale & free shipping. I found the exact same thing as the customer in Seattle, not matter what setting I select I just get a blotchy result. Yes, paper may be optimized for use with a corresponding brand of printer, but you should at least be able to get usable prints. Kodak paper works beautifully in my Canon Pixma.I bought this primarily for the price! It is a great buy for 100 sheets of photo paper. I was hoping to print some large photos for framing and hanging on the wall, and needed large photo paper. I like the 8.5x11 since it is easy to work with and fits the printer perfectly, it is hard to find a frame (other than document frame) for this paper, but I found a nice document one at Walmart that looks really nice (most photo frames are 8x10. I put these in the printer (HP OfficeJet 8600), and printed my photos from iPhoto on my Mac, when I printed I selected HP Photo Paper for the paper type and hit print. It took the printer about 2 minutes to print the entire page of full color (borderless), and for a test I ran my finger across the page, nothing came off and the paper was dry when it came out of the printer and there was no smearing (make sure you use proper settings or you might get smearing or wetness). The print looked amazing and after framing it and hanging it, I am very happy! Every printer is different, so be sure to make sure your printer supports photo paper and that you choose the right settings for photo paper when you print your document or image. I highly recommend this and you can not find a better buy for Full size Photo Paper I have used this HP paper for a long time and just ordered 6 more packs. The stores I shop in New York City are always out of it so I went on line to Amazon and ordered it. It was shipped out very fast and postage paid by Amazon. It is a good semi-gloss paper and the right weight for all the cards that I make with it. It holds the ink tight and it dries instantly and the color is beautiful. Some papers change the color but this one looks like what you have on your screen and even sharper. You will be happy with it. Everyone must be happy since it is always sold out. I would recommend this paper for people who need to print quick references, let's say, for drawing purposes. It has done a good job for me for a cheap price. It is really funny to see a lot of bad review, especially from the people who used non HP printer. It is a good paper but for ITS PURPOSE, and the purpose is not to make a lifetime magnificent photo - it is an everyday photo paper, if you want to keep it for the long time - laminate it.
I found it very helpful for presentation purposes - it's thick and heavy and makes a very sharp image. If you need to make a photo, but not willing to keep it for the long time - it is the product what you are looking for. It is also helpful to make flash cards, cheat sheets, instruction sheet especially if it will be laminated later. I have used plenty of photo paper even no name brands, but this is the worst I have ever purchased and the most expensive. The paper will not feed thru, just keep jamming my printer. I had planned to print and give some photos at Christmas gifts. Didn't happen. I have been able to print 3 sheets so far and have messed up more than 10. I won't be using this because it wastes time and is very frustrating unjamming paper. I certainly do not want it to mess up my printer. (The printer was set for this type paper.) I ordered thirty or forty boxes of this paper in the spring of 2010 and got exactly what I wanted. When I ordered it in November of 2010 it was not the same! If you can use gloss paper this may work for you., but if you think you are buying semi-gloss (as described) you will be disappointed. This paper was semi-gloss in early 2010 but what you get now is definitely gloss! It is even labeled "GLOSS." I am returning my entire November order (forty boxes). What a waste of time and energy.

I like this paper very much - great thick texture and the pictures look great on it. It doesn't lend itself to a full page print from my Canon 9000 printer, however, because it will only print pictures on "fine art paper" with a full border. So the pictures are definitely smaller than the 8x11 or 13x19 size paper. My main concern with this paper is that it is difficult to tell which is the printable side of the paper - and Canon tech support can't tell me either. They say the paper is not loaded the same in the package each time. I followed the instruction on the package which says to wet the paper and see which side is "stickier". I can't really tell with this technique.I love the thickness of this paper it's basically a very heavy poster board with a nice texture to it. I like the look it gives some of my pictures. The reason it looses a star is because if your picture needs to be sharp this isn't the paper to use and it might just be me but i can't print a full 13X19 on this paper it only allows me to print 11X14 The photo paper is excellent in and of itself. However the shipper had previously sold this package, and it had been repackaged. It probably was returned because of damage because the box we received was damaged. Every sheet of photo paper is creased from being dropped on the corner. I would not trust this supplier. I have had no problems using the paper however because my image size includes a margin and once the image is matted and framed no one notices the wrinkled paper. If I were selling these images for thousands of dollars however, this would be completely unsuitable. Unfortunately, my images do not fetch over a thousand dollars (LOL). Everything photo paper can possibly have for the artwork of professional and advanced amateur photographers Canon's new flagship glossy photo paper surpasses Photo Paper Pro [PR-101]. Similar to Photo Paper Plus Glossy II (PP-201), a six layer paper structure is used to promote color reproduction "Alumina" which proved quicker ink absorbency on Photo Paper Pro [PR -101] is adopted in the ink-receiving layers.I got a Canon Pro9000 printer over a year ago, and ever since then I've been experimenting with different papers. I order sample packs from paper companies such as Red River, Hahnemuhle, Ilford, and of course the native Canon paper. Since I was a total beginner when it comes to printing, I kept detailed notes in OneNote, compared the same image on different papers, calibrated my monitor, used soft proofing, etc. My goal was to find a paper that I love and that had predictable results from monitor to print.

After much toil and compromise with the 3rd party brands, I realized that Canon's Photo Paper Pro was a high-quality, consistent paper. It wasn't an exciting discovery - using the expensive paper from the printer manufacturer instead of discovering some money-saving yet exotic specialty paper - but at least my prints were looking good.

Then as I was restocking on ink, I noticed that Canon updated their product line, releasing Photo Paper Pro II and Photo Paper Pro Platinum. Intrigued, I ordered a 20-pack of letter sized Platinum. Sure enough, soon I had a chance to shoot a portrait of a friend of mine that had many vivid colors, high dynamic range, and a great level of detail. I did a small shoot-out between some Red River paper, Photo Paper Pro (the original), and the Platinum. I won't labor you with the details, but when I printed on Photo Paper Pro after a few Red River misses, I sighed with relief - the colors were rich and faithful, and the image looked great. I then pushed the envelope and printed with Platinum. Wow!!! It got even better! The differences were subtle, but perceptible. The Platinum seemed to have a bit more "pop", probably owing to its higher brightness.

For a recent gallery showing, I printed a couple dozen more prints on this Platinum paper, and got a good feel for its performance. I found that soft proofing wasn't really necessary with this paper - it looked very faithful to the screen without having to bring anything back into the gamut. Despite being a brighter base paper, the prints came out a bit darker than some of the other papers I was messing around with. A bump of 5% to brightness in Qimage did the trick. The colors also seemed a bit less saturated. This is a tough one to make a call on - I'm used to Canon's idea of colors (whether camera-processed JPG or their super-glossy paper) being a bit too much on the Disney side, so I was actually appreciative of a more subdued default. A saturation boost of 2% or 3% did the trick. Note that the "unsaturated" colors were still plenty deep and rich, just not quite as punchy.

I'm going to try the Photo Paper Pro II next to see if it's a good middle point between the (already good) Photo Paper Pro and this beautiful but expensive Platinum. This paper definitely earns its name - it's the top of the line with a price to match. I didn't see a world of difference between this and the old Photo Paper Pro in terms of visuals, but Canon claims that the archival qualities in this paper are state of the art, and I believe them. So for prints I really care about, I'm all about the Pro Plat! Get best results with Canon Photo Paper Pro II. Also a little bit less pricey. Using Canon 9000 Pixmar Pro.
Could not tell any difference that would justify the extra money spend on this type of paper. I use a Canon Pixma Pro9000, which I just got a few months ago. I am going to discuss the paper quality versus my printer, however, because sometimes the color production from the printer seems perfect, and other times it comes out dark. But the printer always gets the sharpness and image quality right.

So far, I am very pleased with this particular print paper. The colors are well-saturated, clean and glossy, although I find sometimes I may have to wait a while for the print to have "dried" before the colors are accurate. Again, this may be more the printer's fault than the paper itself. I have given prints made on this paper to various clients and they have been very pleased; so far, I have not heard any complaints about fading. (However, I think ANY print will fade in time if left in direct sunlight frequently.)

The print quality is fantastic and I've been pretty happy so far. As I experiment with papers more, I may find one I like better, but this is pretty good for now. This is the best glossy inkjet paper I've used up to this point. The paper has a real solid feel and good weight. I can make B&W prints that really sparkle using this paper with the latest model Pixma Pro 9500. I use the paper to make prints for patrons at a university photogprhic archive. I've never had a complaint since I started using Pro Platinum about a year and a half ago and several patrons have commented on how nice the paper looks and feels.

My only problem with this paper is that I can't get enough of it. Buy that I mean I want the 8 1/2 X 11 paper to come in 100 sheet boxes, heck, 250 sheet boxes because I go through so much of it. I really want Canon to make this paper in 11x17 and 17x22 sizes as well, the 11x17 for the archive work and the 17x22 to use with my personal Canon 5100 printer. Purchased this product after trying DOZENS of other brands, and types of photo paper. Best advice? Do NOT get cheap with photo paper when printing on a PIXMA Pro 9000/9500 printer. This Pro Platinum works in perfect harmony with these printers. I hear a lot of people complain about the price and that there is no difference when compared to the less expensive Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II. Well after purchasing both types of paper and doing the same prints on them I only have one thing to say, Pro Platinum wins. Pro Platinum is way thicker, and heavier. The brightness of white is way higher than any other paper I have used. And best of all, the ink dries way faster! If you have a high end printer, then this is the perfect paper for it, period. You won't be disappointed.

One piece of advice, when using Photoshop, leaving the setting to "Canon Color Sync" actually works better with this paper than using the printer's own profile of "Pro Platinum <1> PT". This photo paper is amazing at what it does. With the 80 weight the colors come off with the correct contrast in which you desire and the glossiness just makes for the better. After seeing the pics I had printed my whole class went out and bought this paper so it comes highly recommended.

As for which side to print on, it says you need to print on the "whiter" side. That's impossible to figure out if the room lighting isn't super white. I use my bathroom lighting to figure out which side is correct. This is NOT photo paper and should not be advertised as such. This is a thick grade of regular paper. If you want to print photos, I suggest purchasing Canon's pricier "pro" papers, which are more in line with what you would get if you printed your photos at any commercial outlet. This paper will do fine for school projects or business presentations. I use Canon products from the first shot off of my EOS Rebel digital SLR to the download, into touch-up and finally, to an excellent full size print off of my Canon Pro 9000 printer. After getting the Canon i960 printer, I had to try this paper. One it was cheap. And two, the diverse reviews here intrigued me to no end. After making a few prints on this paper, I began to think I knew why the paper was so cheap...it was THAT bad!

Then, when I came to do a review, I fortunately read the one that cautioned printing on the right side of the paper. There was a right side? I then read the directions with the paper--there is indeed a right side, and it is whiter than the back. It will be hard for some to tell the difference. But the difference from printing on the right side and the wrong side is truly astounding! I'm a big glossy paper fan, but there is a nice look to this matte paper. And it is MUCH cheaper than the Photo Paper Pro. It is also much cheaper than buying greeting card paper.

But be aware, the money you save not buying more expensive photo paper will be going to buying more ink. Compared to glossy paper, this paper drinks ink. I've been making calendars with it, and was shocked to see the way the ink was consumed. Yet, I can't see making calendars with any paper than this. It makes beautiful calendars! I print a borderless 8x10 photo, using my Canon photo software on the bright white side, and a calendar page, using my calendar software, on the opposite side. The pages bind very easily with a 1/4 inch plastic binding comb. And as I said, it makes a strikingly beautiful photo calendar.

Thus, if you have only one type of Canon paper on hand, I would have this one. But if you can't give up the glossy look for photos, it won't work for you. Personally, I prefer using Kodak paper when making glossy prints on my Canon. And Kodak has a satin finished paper, but there is the Kodak name all over the back. One of the great things about this Canon paper is you can print on both sides. But do make certain you know the front from the back, before printing a photo.

I have a Canon PowerShot G3 and a Canon S900 printer. I've tried all of the Canon papers, and they all produce excellent output. I had been using mostly the Photo Paper Pro, assuming that the most expensive paper produced the best output. However, my testing shows that for most photos, I actually prefer the output of this Matte Photo Paper. I found that the color of most objects and people looks more natural with the matte paper. Best of all, this paper is less than 25% the cost of the Photo Paper Pro on a per sheet basis. If you're using one of the Canon photo printers, you definitely need to try this paper out. I think you'll find the output excellent and the value outstanding. I use this paper with my Canon printer. It is so reasonably priced that I use it to "proof" prints before printing on a more expensive glossy paper. It gives good color depth and fidelity. The color fidelity is good enough to use it for a final print or as a preview paper. Highlights and shadows are good. I haven't had the prints exposed long enough to see how color fast they are. I have had problems with some of the Canon color papers when it comes to color durability whent the prints were exposed to light and L.A. "air" (smog) for even short periods of time. The particular problem was with blacks degrading over a period of only a few monthes with their Canon Photo Paper Plus glossy paper. Plain copy paper prints held up fine but I want to test this matte paper in the same conditions. If you can't hang your pictures on your refrigerator with magnets, what else is left in life? Canon only tests for colorfast under glass and carefully evades quesions about exposed prints like the plague. (4 emails to Canon Tech Dept....evaded answering my question specifically times 4) I hardly write any reviews, though I shop online a lot. Probably this is my first negative review ever. I am a hobbyist and love my pictures. Picture print quality is everything for me because the pictures I print are for myself. I have Canon Pro9000 mark ii printer... This printing paper is just an average thick paper, does not look like a professional matte photo paper at all. try the semi-gloss, it will get you a bit of shine on the paper to make the color of photos look better. not like they were printed on standard paper.
And black and white pics? forget about it! When I first opened the package, I was horrified, as this paper has NO LUSTER AT ALL !!! I looks like a normal document paper which is slightly thicker. When I took the print though, the picture came out sharp and clear, not sure whether its only because of printer, or some credit goes to this bad boy. Still, the print by itself looked way too matty. But after I put it inside a photo frame, it looks perfect. the gloss from the glass makes up for the lack of sheen, and you cant tell at all that the print is a completely matte one.
Hence, to cut the long story short, I would recommend this product for art and craft, or for framing (in a glass photo frame). I purchased this for use in crafts, namely to print high-quality trading cards. I had expected it to be slightly more glossy, but not shiny like a developed photograph, but its texture is much more like regular printer paper. Despite this, it performed well and, with two sheets glued back to back, was about the thickness and firmness of a trading card. This paper at first proved to drive my patience. I felt frustrated about the color quality coming out of my printer and was tempted to resort to glossy paper for my art prints. Blacks appeared gray, colors dark and muted compared to what I was seeing on screen. I changed my screen settings, changed my print setting, yet after four full page prints I was disappointed with the quality of what I was seeing. I was truly prepared to jump in with the gang of the one-star group, until I read the instructions (yes, instructions) that came with my paper.

I printed the same image of a bee I drew yesterday on the front and back of one of these sheets and posted it in the images of this product page to show just how much of a difference printing on the wrong side of the paper can make. If for whatever reason you gave this product a negative rating, make sure you didn't make this simple but quite devastating mistake.

The correct side is slightly smoother than the incorrect side. The right side is also much brighter than the incorrect side which is slightly yellowed. I know it will pain some of you, but the only way I've been able to tell and double check before wasting my ink is by folding the paper over under a good light source. The difference is subtle, but it is there.

Overall these papers are of legitimate quality. As for the fading of these papers I cannot say, but in ten or so years I'll give you an update. So far I see no problems. I have been using this paper quite regularly. I am a graphic designer and I often print out proofs for my clients for logos, business cards etc on this paper with my inkjet Canon printer. The results are always good and the paper is heavy enough to be used for this purpose. My only objection is that the backside of the paper has a lightly darker tone (almost invisible, but it's there) and when I need to print it double sided, I am not so happy with having a slightly darker paper on one side. But overall, I would definitely recommend it

This photo-quality ink-jet paper has a bright, beautiful matte white finish that produces brilliant color and sharp text that won't show through. Designed for two-sided printing, it's perfect for newsletters, holiday letters, and other photo and text applications. Each box includes 100 sheets of 8.5-by-11-inch paper. This paper is hands-down the best buy I've found in photographic papers. I use this with an HP 932C, and the results on this paper are actually better than I get with the HP Premium Glossy Photo Paper.
The only downside I see to this paper is weight. It's not as heavy as most of the HP Premium papers, weighing in at only 36 lbs (not quite twice the weight of typical copy paper). I should note, though, that my package of this paper is listed as "hp photo-quality paper matte finish", and is not listed as a "Premium" photo paper. However the part number is the same, so I suspect HP didn't actually change the paper in any way, just the packaging.
That said, the upside is tremendous. Excellent quality, nearly rivaling the "Premium Plus" papers HP produces, but at a fraction of the price. Typical "premium" papers cost between about 50 cents to as much as $1.25 a sheet. Even if you buy this paper locally and pay the $14.99 it's usually listed for, that still comes out under 15 cents a sheet, and you can print on both sides!I 'discovered' this paper a couple of years ago at my local Staples store. It is a very reasonably priced inkjet printing paper for many purposes and I've adopted it as my regular 'proofing' paper and use it for many projects.

It's not heavyweight enough for your best photo printing if your aim is exhibition-quality prints for display, but it's far more economical than wasting expensive heavyweight glossy 'photo' paper, and since it has a 'matte' finish the contrast is less than the glossy finish papers that would typically be used for 'photo' prints anyway.

The 36 lb. stock makes it ideal for most of my 'Photoshop' projects and it is the perfect match for my HP inkjet printers(using HP inks). I often use it for making 'custom' greeting and note cards, and it's just the right 'weight' for making CD booklets for my CD-R disc compilations too! This paper's weight/stiffness is just a bit of overkill for resumes and professional letter writing where 24 lb. stock would be 'perfect' instead.

I'm glad to have found this paper to fill an important niche in my small array of 'stock' papers that I keep on hand for my various printing needs. All in all, a great product at a very reasonable price!!!!! This paper is great for most color and B&W uses. I use it instead of glossy paper for printing the covers I have created for my CD-Rs. I save the more expensive glossy paper for real photo printing. The paper is whiter than standard inkjet paper, giving better color brilliance. Ink dries faster than with glossy paper, also. This paper is heavier than standard inkjet paper, giving my CD covers a more professional look and feel. Glossy paper is still the best, but this comes so close that it deserves 4 stars. I was expecting a much heavier paper than what I received. This product is only 1 step above regular copy paper. I do not recommend this. This is the 1st review I have ever written on a product I used. I have been an advertising professional almost 30 years, having spent time at several major global ad agencies in LA and SF, including Disney, working as a Print Producer and Designer. I have printed on the highest end litho presses in the world up to 10 colors with UV inks. In the last 8 years I have expanded into high-end ink jet printing on Epson and HP plotters capable of printing billboards at 600 DPI. I currently own an Epson 2880 and an HP 6200 that I use for my own personal photography projects, and when the right paper is printed the results can be breathtaking. But I think HP is way out of line even referring to this paper as a Photo Paper. It isn't much heavier than regular copy paper and the surface isn't much better than regular copy paper. I just printed 100 2 sided flyers, 5.5 x 8.5 on this Everyday Photo Paper thinking it would be better than the glossy HP Brochure Paper I have used before and got beautiful results on, so good that a novice couldn't tell if it was ink jet or litho. And my images of course are the highest quality as well as my art files. But on the Everyday Matte Photo Paper they looked sub-par. Not at all the quality anyone would expect from a "Photo Paper". Not to mention it kept jamming and mis-feeding in the HP 6200 which resulted in having to throw out 15 sheets or so. I was really drawn to the matte finish since I'm using matte finish watercolor type fine art paper for the other pieces in this campaign. But next time I'll either use the HP glossy brochure paper or spend more money and use the Epson Natural Watercolor Paper which also prints 2 sides as does the Everyday Matte Photo Paper, also the other reason I chose it. I endorse HP products to all my peers but in this case I think HP needs to re-position this product out of the photo paper category. BTW, I also worked on the HP advertising account for 2 years at a global agency I'll keep anonymous. And I will continue to use the Premium photo papers, but I'm becoming a big fan of the Epson products lately. It's not even cardstock thick, it's very thin - a step up on copy paper. Very disappointed! I don't know if prints are going to last in this type of photo paper!I use this for acrylic transfer work. This paper is PERFECT for that purpose. It's thick, but not too thick. It easily absorbs water (keep that in mind if you DON'T plan on using this paper for that purpose!) so it can be removed from the transfer without ruining it. The quality of the print itself is great, it is easy to work with and use, and I have no complaints.

I don't know that I would use this for photos, as it doesn't really feel like photo paper to me. But for a "nicer" alternative to regular paper, or making any sort of transfers I would absolutely recommend it. This is a very good product for photo quality letters and brochures. They come out really nice but are still easily folded into a standard number 10 envelope for mailing at standard first class mail. Can also be framed and displayed same as any photo. I get consistently good results--good color and quality--on my Epson printers. Have done numerous "taste tests", since I need to print out artwork frequently. This paper is my standby. I received this product on time and promptly went to go try it out, much to my dismay... it felt like normal printer paper! And even though it is "matte" finish, I cannot tell which side to print on! Both sides look the same, so I took two pieces and tried printing the same picture on both sides, well, it looks streaky on either side.

I guess this product is ok for the price, and fine for pictures you don't much care about, but its a little disappointing to hang up a streaky picture. This photo paper is like a heavy copy paper, does not have any type of gloss or finish. It is ok if you don't want a real photo looking picture. I didn't know that everyday photo paper was just that, a heavier copy paper and when it said matte I thought it was a low sheen finish, not a no finish. If you want a real photo look get a different paper. I was surprised by this paper. It is printable on both sides unlike some other brands. I do alot of printing and when doing proof work I can reuse my culled photos to print proofings for myself on the reverse side, so it saves me money and does'nt waste paper or trees. This is terrific paper. I've been using HP Everyday Photo Paper, Matte finish for years. I've easily printed 4000 sheets of this paper using multiple generations of normal, inexpensive inkjet printers. I've used it for flyers, coupons, tickets, making buttons, adding colorful photos and charts to reports, the uses are endless. I use this paper way, WAY more than "normal" photo paper, because it is so much more flexible.
Here are the best things about this paper:

1. It looks and feels like regular paper, yet photos and color charts and any other kind of printing looks terrific on it.

2. It is double-sided, which is rare for photo paper. That means you can use it for tri-fold brochures, tickets, and any other use where you need to print high quality color images on both sides.

3. It is more opaque than regular paper, so when you print a photo or image on one side, the image doesn't "bleed through" to the other side.

4. This paper looks SO professional. You print the same photo on regular paper and this photo paper, and this photo paper looks fantastic by comparison, even though it feels like a regular sheet of paper.

5. It is less expensive than regular photo paper.

6. This paper is great when helping with your kids projects, because you can print on it and cut it into shapes and it still looks like regular paper, even though the color images are professional and vibrant.

7. I make a lot of those "buttons" with the pins on the back, for various organizations my kids belong to. This paper is absolutely perfect for printing fantastic, professional looking buttons. The printed image looks great, yet the paper is not much thicker than regular paper so it works great in the button machine.

8. Anytime I want to print any report for a customer that needs to look professional, I use this paper, even if the report doesn't have many photos or images in it. It just produces a very professional result. Everyone is always impressed when I give them something printed on this paper, yet they can't quite figure out why it looks so good.

Okay, enough gushing. There is no other product like this paper on the market that I've found. It is indispensable to me. I use it at least once a week for any number of projects.

NOTE: If you are trying to print photos to give to your family, it's better to choose some normal, thick, expensive photo paper, because this paper doesn't "feel" like a photo. It feels like regular paper, that just happens to print fabulous photos.

This is HP's best glossy photo paper, designed to look and feel exactly like a professional photograph, in a convenient, precut size for 4-by-6-inch prints. Features include 100 sheets boasting studio-quality 9-millimeter thickness, and smooth, glossy finish for vivid, professional-looking photographs. Each conveniently sized 4-by-6-inch sheet offers smooth edges and a perforated tear-off tab for easy handling. They're ideal for high-resolution digital photos and reprints, photo albums, and business applications. This HP paper is good. The 5 megapixel photos that I print from my HP Photosmart 7960 come out very well on this paper except for one thing. The little metal rollers that are inside most HP printers leave little dots that are visible on your photos (more visible with darker pictures). After calling HP about this, they said you need to get Premium PLUS photo paper and that the premium plus paper will correct the problem. If you don't mind having little white dots on your photos, then this paper is amazing. If you do mind then go with the Premium Plus. I purchased this paper to print snaps of family and friends. The paper has worked great, though did require me to configure the paper type of the software I am using(Photoshop), though this is not something unique to this paper.

Though most folks who print photos regularly know this well, it took me a few tries to learn how to correctly adjust the ink and paper settings. In Windows this setting is typically in the 'Advanced' printing options. Here just choose the paper type 'HP Premium Glossy'. Oh, and don't forget to choose at least 1200dpi for your prints which will be an available option after choosing 'best' print quality. On my Mac these settings were untuitively found under the 'Paper' tab in the print options.I also encountered the white dot problem with HP Premium glossy photo paper on my HP PSC 2355 printer. I even changed my printers at Best Buy, thinking that I have a defective printer, but still the same result. The pictures look good, but the white dots are quite annoying. They are virtualy imperceptible on lighter colors, but are glaring on dark colors, especially black. I would not recommend using this paper if you have an HP printer similar to mine (2355, 2175, 1315, 1350, etc.). Premium PLUS paper indeed corrects this problem, but it is almost twice as expensive. (If one looks very intently the white dots are still present even on Premium plus paper, they are just not conspicuous.) Because of this, I am now thinking of returning my HP printer, even thought the overall picture quality, as well as the product reliability, is quite high. Amazon recently had this item on sale for $6.99 ... which is a good price for 100 sheets compared to other brands I use (Canon, Epson, Kodak). The paper printed fine on my Epson R1800 printer. I'd hoped to buy more, but I see the price is now higher. The paper isn't quite as heavy as the Canon or Epson or Kodak papers, but they run about double the $6.99 price. I had no trouble with smearing or ink not acting properly. I use the HP paper for 'routine' or snapshot type prints or proofs of my RAW processing before printing in larger sizes. This is the one! It's not easy finding your favorite photo paper when the product has been changed. My older version of this "HP Premium Photo Paper, Glossy 4x6", with tab" was a 10ml in weight; this is a 9ml and I worried about that. I can't tell the difference in the weight of the paper at all. And side by side photos of the same subject tells the tale . . no difference in quality of the print at all. Just Beautiful!! The folks having problems with the tab are NOT allowing the paper to dry. I wait exactly 5 min for the photo to be completely dry, bend the tab backward, then bend the tab forward and when I pull, it practically pops off in my hand. Perfect separation and a perfect print every single time. Love it when it works and when it's simple!!I bought a large quntity of this paper not realizing there had been a huge change in "premium plus". The quality of the prints are not usable for my work now. I called HP and asked if there was any of the old paper I could buy and was told they would ship some to me. They shipped about 15 sheets of the "advanced" type, not Premium Plus. Very dissatisfied and must find other paper to use now. No one seemed to care at HP. Having had great luck with HP photo paper in the past I recently bought a large quantity of their HP Premium Photo Paper. Unfortunately the quality is not the same and in my opinion it is pure junk. No matter what settings I adjust (in the past I never had to touch any settings) this paper won't dry and the colors all run together. I even have a professional photo printer and my photos look horrible on this paper. I even called HP Customer Service and the rep told me this is the quality of paper that is being produced by HP now. I said "so you are basically telling me the product is crap?" I'll never buy HP againQuality of prints is not very good. Skin looks much better on Canon paper. The back of the paper is like sand paper. The prints don't slide and I am worried that the back of one is scratching the one below it. Like a really cheap deck of cards. The tab does not tear off very easily and leaves an ugly edge even when it does. Never buying this paper again. I own a high end Canon Pixma Pro 9000 photo printer. I bought a bunch of HP Premium photo paper because it was 2 for 1. Big mistake. The prints had a mottled pattern which was quite ugly. I thought my printer must have clogged jets because the print quality was so low. I cleaned my print heads and tested the alignment, but I kept getting same lousy quality. So I got on the phone with Canon tech support which immediately suspected the HP paper (apparently HP papers are a known problem). They had me print the same photo on Kodak paper I also happened to have on hand and it was beautiful. The Canon tech support person told me that HP, unlike most of the other manufacturers use a different process with the result the paper surface will swell as the ink is applied to it causing image problems. I think the problem occurs with ink formulations which have water in them, but not 100% sure.I have used many photo papers over time, and only a few of them have the weird perforated tab you have to remove after you print. It didn't bother me because I needed printer paper, and EVERY OTHER brand I have ever used tore off cleanly. Not this paper. 8 out of 10 pictures I print tear on one side. Easy to cut off, but very irritating, and it does affect the look of the picture as it looks like cheap paper. The tab is useless, and causes more harm than good. I can't wait to be out of this paper so I can buy the superior Kodak that I prefer to use.I have an older HP Photosmart 7550, a high end model in its day, that when printing 4x6 photos is only supposed to take paper with tabs. This tabless paper was sent to me by mistake, but I tried it anyway and the pictures come out fine. No dots, everything centered. Really good quality for the price. I have an HP Photosmart C7280 printer that will not work with this photo paper. There is a code on the back of the paper that is used for the "Auto Sense" feature. This is designed so the printer can recognize which direction the paper is loaded (in case you loaded some sheets the wrong way). Unfortunately, it is more of a problem than a help. No matter how the settings are changed on the printer, it will always print on the perforated tab and leave a blank bar at the end of the picture. I spend about an hour with tech support and they could not get the issue resolved. I strongly recommend against this product. Purchase photo paper that does not have the tab on it. I just bought 2 packs(200 sheets total). I compared the same EPSON and Canon photo paper pro print with HP one, they are way better than HP Premium Photo Paper. paper pro, a bit expensive but print quality are way better. And some people pointed put, perforated edge is something that was never mentioned and I would have never purchased if it was mentioned. Other brands of photo paper and even the trial suppy provided with my HP printer were 4 X 6 and printed as expected. I didn't realize that my latest purchase of HP photo paper had a perforated tab until I noticed the stack of borderless photos I had just printed were white on the edge. Not the perforated edge! So, I looked into it and discovered that a tab was intended to ease handling of the wet prints. I then inserted the paper with the edge facing out(tear off tab outside the printed area of the paper). But the tear off tab was not presented after printing - it was positioned deep in the output tray where it was inaccesible. After tearing away the perforated tab, several photos retained jagged edges where the tab did not separate cleanly.

Very nice prints on this paper. Soft gloss (HP used to call this same item Matte) produces superior prints and looks much better inside the photo album. This is the only photo paper I will buy. The soft gloss is perfect- it is like a satin sheen so it's not super glossy, but comes out looking extremely professional, like you would get from a studio. Makes the ink saturate nicely and dries quickly. The tab is excellent for grabbing out of the printer too. With HP printers, at least my D7260 and C6180, this is great paper. No settings, the printer detects the paper and AUTOMATICALLY sets it to print great photos so even the technically challenged in the house can print great photos quickly. With the latest HP driver that puts a gadget on the desktop in Windows 7 to just drop photos on and print, I couldn't be happier with this stuff. Okay y'all, here's the deal, in my humble, and newbie's opinion (for those of you searching aimlessly for the right paper as I was not long ago). First of all, I new I wanted a semi-gloss type paper, as that's what we used in my high school (not all that long ago, but yes, I went FOREVER before finally getting a decent photo printer) photography/digital art class, and it turned out beautiful prints- and it's what I'm used to. So I went looking for more paper, when the glossy paper that came with my new hp printer ran out.

Anyway, I searched and cross-referenced to find the right size (4x6, obviously), finish, and rating. When I finally found 4x6 soft gloss paper, all I could find that was reasonably priced was this one, "with tab" which I'd never seen, nor heard of before. I read complaints about it, but I was thinking "tab" meant a small extension, maybe an inch wide by 1-1/2" long... NOPE. It extends the entire length of the bottom of the photo, and on my printer comes out at the top, and the serrated edge DOES NOT come off clean. I gave up after butchering a few pics, and started just waiting for them to 'dry' and then using my paper-cutter to cut the end off (you can surely imagine what a pain in the rear that is- and I'm sure not everyone has a paper cutter hanging around).

PLUS the whole NEED for a "tab" leads one to believe that even though it is soft-gloss paper, it needs quite a bit of dry time. Therefore, it's VERY annoying not knowing A: How long one must wait to handle the photo (and cut the d*mn tab off); and B: Is it okay to print multiple prints at a time..? Or will this smear the first print? And as I'm a bit over-cautious/paranoid, my printer and small table adjacent to it are covered in photo prints, as I'm back-logged in pics to print, for framing, scrap-booking, etc.

OKAY as for the QUALITY of the paper itself, THAT, my friends, is the reason it has earned its 2 stars. It is indeed a great paper. I really love it, actually. It's a nice, heavy weight that you can feel, in addition to seeing it in the quality print. I love the "Soft-gloss" finish. It's great for framing and crafts (others have said high gloss is better for scrapbooking, I disagree.) The color still really pops, without the glare high-gloss prints can so easily be hindered by.

BOTTOM LINE: If not for the "TAB" and the subsequent drying issue, I'd give this paper 5 stars. However, I'll NEVER buy paper with tabs again. Splurge for the higher-priced "Instant Dry" paper. It's identical, except it dries immediately, and has no tab-thank goodness. I just purchased it, and won't lie, haven't received it yet, but simply not having the tab is well worth the extra $6-ish(?) I promise! Even double the cost would be worth it- save up if need be, you'll be happy you did!Great Premium Photo Paper. I have 2 HP printers and the quality is perfect on both. Good low price too. We ruined a lot of time, ink etc with this This is a very good quality photo printing paper especially because it is a soft gloss which gives it just enough shine and brightness but with a texture of a matte paper, good for very colorfully photos. You will be fully satisfied with the print job, just make sure you set up the printing right because you want your printer to detect the paper and if your printer has photo fix and red eye removal use that for even a better image.Three people in my family have the Photosmart portable HP printer 385. It only prints 4 x 6 prints. The other two individuals used glossy until they saw the quality of my prints using the soft glossy (matte). BIGGGG difference in "quality." Highly recommend.I tried HP Photo Paper on my Canon Pixma printer and did not like the colors in the prints, in particular skin tones. I have tried several printer profiles for HP paper and still could not get the results that would be as good as Canon paper on Canon printer. The paper produces beautiful images, but the tabs are difficult to remove. They are scored but the perferations aren't deep enough, so the page tears when you try to remove the tab, even if you score and fold it. Not good.
